Feeding and Sensory Therapy, Centered on Connection

Serving Naples, Florida and the greater SWFL region

I support children and families navigating feeding challenges, sensory sensitivities, and developmental differences.

Through a relationship-based occupational therapy approach, we focus on curiosity over compliance—helping children feel safe enough to explore foods and new sensory experiences with confidence.

My Monthly Partnership model provides support not just during therapy sessions, but through the Raising Curious Eaters parent community, where families have access to the Eating with EASE Academy and ongoing guidance between sessions.

If feeding has started to feel confusing or stressful, there’s usually more going on beneath the surface than picky eating.

Understanding what your child’s nervous system and sensory system are communicating is often where progress begins.

When Feeding or Sensory Challenges Start Affecting Daily Life

Many families arrive here feeling exhausted and unsure what to try next.

Maybe your child:

• eats only a small number of foods
• gags or refuses new textures
• becomes overwhelmed at the table
• struggles with transitions or sensory sensitivities
• melts down around routines that used to feel simple

You may have already tried strategies, therapy, or advice that didn’t quite fit your child.

If that’s where you are right now, please know this:

You didn’t cause this. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Feeding challenges often have deeper roots in a child’s sensory processing, nervous system regulation, development, and the relationship between parent and child.

Understanding those pieces is where meaningful progress begins.

Why Therapy Needs to Support the Whole Family

My practice works through a Monthly Partnership model, designed to support families between sessions—not just during them.

Many therapy models are built around isolated appointments.

You attend a session, learn a few strategies, and then try to apply them at home until the next visit.

But feeding and development don’t happen once a week.

They happen every day at your table.

The Monthly Partnership Model

Instead of isolated appointments, families receive a connected system of support designed to help children feel safer, more regulated, and more curious around food and daily experiences.

Your Monthly Partnership includes two integrated pieces of support.

Hands-on sessions where we observe how your child moves, regulates, and interacts with food.

Together we work on:

• sensory processing and regulation
• posture, motor coordination, and body awareness
• oral-motor and feeding skills
• helping your child feel safer and more comfortable exploring food

These sessions allow us to understand your child’s unique patterns and guide the next steps in their development.

In-Person Occupational Therapy Sessions

including The Eating with EASE Academy

Families also receive access to Raising Curious Eaters, my parent learning and support community.

Inside this space you’ll find:

• the full Eating with EASE Academy
• parent education and feeding strategies
• a supportive community of families
• opportunities to ask questions and learn between sessions

This helps parents understand the “why” behind what we’re doing in therapy, making it easier to support their child in everyday moments at home.

Every child’s needs are different. During the evaluation process we’ll determine the level of support that best fits your family.

We are an approved provider through the Step Up For Students FES-UA scholarship program.

Families using this scholarship can look us up under That Makes Sense OT in the provider marketplace.

We’ll talk about what’s been happening with your child and whether my services are the right fit for your family.

Common Questions

Families usually come to me after they’ve been trying to figure things out for a long time — searching for answers, trying strategies they’ve found online, or even working with other therapies that didn’t quite address the full picture.

The monthly partnership allows us to build momentum instead of starting over each week. It also gives families access to Raising Curious Eaters and the Eating with EASE Academy so the understanding and strategies we explore in therapy can carry over into everyday life at home.

Why do you work through a monthly partnership instead of paying per session?

1

Do you accept insurance?

2

Services are provided on a private-pay basis. This allows therapy to focus on your child’s individual needs rather than the restrictions often placed on therapy through insurance systems.

Families using the Step Up For Students FES-UA scholarship can work with us as That Makes Sense OT is listed as an approved provider in the scholarship marketplace. Many families also use HSA or FSA funds to pay for services.

What happens if we need to miss a session?

3

Your monthly partnership reserves a consistent place in the schedule for your child so we can maintain steady progress together. When illness or scheduling conflicts come up, we will talk together about the best way to keep your child moving forward.

Because your partnership also includes access to Raising Curious Eaters and the Eating with EASE Academy, families continue to have guidance and resources available between sessions.

How long do families usually work with you?

4

Every child’s path is different. Some families work together for a shorter period to address specific challenges, while others benefit from longer-term support as their child develops new skills and confidence.

We review progress regularly and make decisions together about the next steps that make sense for your child and family.

How do I know if this approach is the right fit for my child?

5

My work focuses on helping families understand the sensory, developmental, and nervous system factors that affect feeding, regulation, and daily routines. Rather than pushing children to perform or comply, we work together to create the conditions that allow curiosity and confidence to grow.

During our initial conversation we can talk about what you’ve been experiencing with your child and whether this approach feels like the right next step for your family.

What families often share…

“Before working with Brenda, we felt completely stuck and unsure why feeding had become such a struggle. She helped us understand what was happening with our child’s sensory system and how to respond in ways that actually helped. Once we understood the ‘why,’ everything started to shift.”

Diana — Parent of a 4-year-old

“Working with Brenda has made such a difference for our family. We understand our child so much better now, and things that used to feel really hard, like transitions, big feelings, and even trying new foods, are much easier to navigate.”

Brittany— Parent of a 2-year-old

Let’s Talk About What Your Child Needs

If feeding challenges, sensory sensitivities, or daily routines have started to feel stressful, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Reaching out is simply the first step in understanding what your child may be experiencing and exploring whether working together would be helpful for your family.

After you submit the form, I’ll review your information and follow up with next steps.
